Title Active Magazine
The Brief

Active is the National Trust's magazine for its 50,000 volunteers. Situated throughout the UK volunteers are vital team players with the National Trust organisation and provide a fantastic resource for visitors to engage with the organisation.     

The Challenge

The key objective of Active is to ensure that all volunteers understand the important role they play, while at the same time providing information about new National Trust initiatives and how volunteers can get involved.

Editorial Response

As their publishing agency we are there to ensure we take away the pressure of producing magazines. We therefore look after the whole publishing process from strategic planning through to sending files to the printer.  Liaising with all departments throughout the National Trust, we direct photo shoots at Trust properties, conduct interviews with visitors and key members of staff and write all copy for the magazine.

The quarterly magazine contains an engaging mix of volunteer and National Trust related topics, features, interviews, competitions and of course, letters and updates from the volunteers themselves.    

Results

The magazine is now an invaluable communication tool for the volunteers and testament to this is the fact that more volunteers than ever are writing to the magazine for the ‘contribution' page and we have a waiting list of people to be featured in ‘A day in the life...'
