Luke Hughes & Company (LHCL) designs furniture for some of the UK's best-loved buildings and was recently shortlisted for a Walpole Award for ‘the highest standard of British design talent through innovation, design and British craftsmanship'. Since 2009, Wardour has been working with Luke Hughes on the development and rollout of a new communications strategy. We adopted a strategic, consultancy-led approach to the project. Following a series of workshops, it became clear that LHCL has an unparalleled range of skills (encompassing a knowledge of social anthropology, architecture, design, materials and manufacture), which it applies to the design and production of its furniture. The value of LHCL's furniture lies in the thinking behind it.
So we recommended that the firm reposition itself as an international consultancy, broadening its knowledge offering - a significant change from its previous positioning, which was more product-oriented.
We created a website that reflects the company's design values and allows LHCL to demonstrate its expertise and thought leadership and showcase its unique case studies.
Since launch, we have continued to offer support to the brand through the creation of video work, updates to the website and consultancy on brand ideas.
