2010 Pearl Awards - The best in Custom Content in the US

New York, NY (November 12, 2010) - The Custom Content Council proudly presented its seventh annual Pearl Awards last night at The Water Club in New York City, which celebrated the best in custom media in design, editorial and strategic initiatives for B2B and consumer publications. Cat Greenleaf, Features Reporter, NBC 4 New York, and host of "Talk Stoop with Cat Greenleaf" and Abe Peck, Professor Emeritus and Director of B2B Communication at Northwestern University, presented this year's awards.  

This year's 569 entries represent 71 companies, and the winning publications reflect a wide range of industries including cable companies, medical institutions, retailers, health care providers, fitness organizations, hotel chains, car manufacturers and financial institutions. The editorial and design award categories focus on the best new, ongoing, and improved publications, while the strategy categories look at how well the publications complement the sponsoring organization's integrated marketing campaigns, how well they achieve the organization's goals, how well they prove a return on investment, and how innovative and effective a distribution strategy they employ.

"The Pearls are a special night for the custom content industry and this year we had a record turnout at our gala," said Lori Rosen, executive director, Custom Content Council. "The quality of work  gets better and better each year. It's exciting time to be in custom media."

This year, Rodale Custom Content & Marketing received the most Pearl Awards with 19 wins, followed by TMG, with 15 awards. Other big winners include Pace Communications with 14 awards and Meredith Integrated Marketing who garnered 11 awards. 

Diana Pohly, President and CEO of The Pohly Company was presented with the John Caldwell Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing her incredible contributions to the custom content industry, which began in 1998 when she was a founding member of the organization.

This year, the Best in Custom award went to Greensboro, NC-based Pace Communications for their publication, Four Seasons Magazine. Four Seasons Magazine is the in-room magazine for the guests of the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, providing original content about travel, arts, culture, restaurants, spa and sport facilities, style, and shopping.

Pearl awards sponsor Zinio created a special digital edition of the show program (insert link), which was displayed at the awards ceremony through the use of iWall technology. Foster Printing Service printed the event's program and signage and NXTBook Media presented and sponsored the Best in Custom award.
