A Day in the Life of...Ruth Carruthers, 71a Gallery Manager, TCOLondon

Working for a truly different kind of creative agency means no two days are ever the same. The Church of London specialises in engaging communities of people around their passions. Drawing on years of independent publishing from within the dark corners of creative subculture, we help brands like Google, adidas, Volkswagen, Stella Artois and StudioCanal join the dots between the core and mainstream.

Through our in-house titles, creative culture bi-monthly Huck and cult movie mag Little White Lies, we've been engaged in a dynamic dialogue with a diverse global community. It is this hard-won insider knowledge of the way culture works that sets TCOLondon apart. When we opened our own event space in 2012, the engagement with our communities was taken to another level.

I'm the Gallery Manager at 71a. I help to ensure that the space is one of the leading places to meet like minds in a creative, dynamic atmosphere. From staging the world premiere of a film Robert Rodriguez made for Blackberry, to conceptualising a one-week residency by artist and pioneer skater Mark Gonzales - events at 71a have attracted global press and added that elusive third dimension to brand experiences.
