The CMA is recruiting for a Senior Account Manager to strategically manage all membership activity. We welcome applications from within the content marketing industry or external to the industry. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, with multiple stakeholder expertise and someone who can enjoy themselves working as part of a small hard working team.

The CMA is the industry body representing content marketing agencies in the UK. We promote all aspects of content marketing and act on behalf of our member companies, who produce online, offline and digital content for some of the world's leading brands. We also use our experience and expertise to advise companies wishing to enter the world of content marketing, an industry that's now worth in excess of £4bn in the UK alone.

The Senior Account Manager will be a key role at the CMA responsible for managing the CMA membership base. The CMA has been through significant strategic and cultural change in 2013 and this role is an evolution of a current position, and marks our commitment to provide our members with value. The principle responsibility will be to ensure that the CMA is delivering value to our members by driving awareness of their business across key internal and external CMA channels, ensuring our members are aware of all member benefits and to manage all member enquiries and activities. This role forms part of a cultural shift at the CMA and will be a critical appointment in repositioning and enabling the business to become a client facing organisation.

The Senior Account Manager must have proven experience of working with multiple stakeholders, (accounts) analyzing analytical data, and an understanding of commissioning and working with industry related 3rd party research. A generalist background in sales / marketing would be a particular advantage.

Principle responsibilities

Strategic account planning:

  • Create and manage individual member 12 month account management plan
  • Forming strategic partnerships with multiple stakeholders
  • Creating strong internal and external relationships
  • Understand member business objectives and form strategic plans which support them
  • Create CMA strategy to meet member objectives e.g. establish x agency as thought leaders by providing blogging opportunity / communicate research findings of x agency by building into the CMA PR strategy / communicate new business win of x agency by populating CMA Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram.
  • Maintain and monitor key member account plans
  • Membership acquisition plan, identify new leads, conduct membership drive
  • Identify and commission generic research to support the CMA strategy

Day-to-day account management:

  • Content planning with members, CMA Editor and CMA PR agency
  • Liaising with members to securing and place PR news stories on the weekly and monthly newsletters
  • Identifying relevant member content to populate CMA Social Media channels
  • Establish strong working face-to-face relationships with agency contacts
  • Manage and track all revenues for event bookings (Industry awards, digital breakfasts)

Skill requirements

  • Proven Account Management experience
  • Good verbal and written English language skills
  • Experience in the content/agency/digital sector
  • Comfortable with business analytics and research
  • Be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial skill-set
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and lead through others
  • Influencing and negotiation skills
  • Process orientated and organised
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent organisation skills, able to multi-task

Lines of reporting and liaison

  • Reporting into Managing Director
  • Working as part of a small team with multiple external stakeholders
  • Close Liaison internally with Marketing & Events Manager & Exec
  • Liaison externally with members, research organisations, PR company
