Seven CEO Sean King said: "This is a really exciting and significant move for Seven. We see more and more brands recognising that an editorial approach to content marketing is essential to bringing a brand promise to life across all platforms, including social media. We believe that by bolstering our existing social capability to deliver on ever-growing client requirements will further strengthen our position as the most exciting agency in this growing sector.
"Que Pasa's skills and experience are great news for our current clients, and their healthy client base will also benefit from the wider, multi-channel content marketing offering at Seven."
The acquisition of the 11-year-old Que Pasa, which manages the social media activity for a number of well-known FMCG brands, gives Seven even greater scale, expertise and capability in an increasingly important part of the content marketing mix.
Mark Maddox, who set up Que Pasa, has taken up the newly-created role of Director of Social at Seven. He said: "Our philosophy has always been that brands will increasingly become media owners and the growth of social channels has accelerated that reality. The next chapter of Que Pasa was to leverage our expertise in social and mobile within a bigger organisation, so I couldn't be happier to be part of Seven. It makes sense to be part of a business where everybody is passionate about content. I look forward to working with Sean and the talented team at Seven in building a world-class social content business."
