An image taken by award-winning content marketing agency Wardour for the cover of a client magazine has been selected by the AOP Photographers Awards to be included in the 2011 book and exhibition. The awards are the most prestigious and highly respected competition for professional photographers worldwide and receive more than 4,000 entries each year.
The image was conceived by art director Rob Cuthbertson, when looking for an innovative way to illustrate risk management for his global insurance client. Moving away from the traditional celebrity cover shot, Rob decided to use a professional stunt man and his hired safety crew. The result was a stunning image of an almost robotic man, completely unfazed that he is literally on fire.
"Of all the shoots I've art directed, this has been my favourite," said Rob.
"The final image provokes a reaction in everyone who sees it; many wonder if it is real at all, and when they find out it is, they question the dangers involved."
The shot was used on the cover of the December 2010 issue sent to the client's insurance customer base of mainly high-end businesses and individuals. The positive feedback from client and readers will encourage Rob and his team to continue to push the boundaries of their work.
